Michael Studt Memorial Scholarship

Michael Studt was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was a dedicated supervisor at Sperry Rubber/Sperry Rice for 45 years where he made lifelong friends. When not a Sperry’s, Michael could be found working on the family farm alongside his father, Carroll, and his family. He loved to share his knowledge of agriculture, work ethic and the importance of family with his children, Jeremy, Mike, Andy and Mary just as his own father had shared with him and his grandfather before him.

Michael met with his father at the family farm daily to visit and discuss the cattle. He always made it a priority to visit his mother, Mildred, to share a cup of coffee and some good conversation on the weekend before heading to the fields. He shared a special bond with his brothers and sisters, his love for them was obvious by the smile on his face whenever they were together. He also had grandchildren who were the “apples of his eye”. No Sunday was complete without a cookout, card games and big stories at the camp with his best friends, dad and son.

To relax in the evenings, Michael enjoyed reading Western books and hanging out with his soulmate of more than 30 years, his wife, Cindy. Michael was Cindy’s biggest cheerleader while she attended college to earn a degree in Social Work. He lived a simple life with no time for vacations or excessive material things; what mattered most to him was his family. To honor Michael and create a legacy to him, the Michael Studt Memorial Scholarship Endowment has been established by his wife. The fund will provide an annual scholarship for college books and tuition for residents of Franklin and Ripley Counties who are entering college as Freshman or are continuing their education at any age of stage of their life.
