When Bill Rosenberger was owner of Rosenberger’s Market, customers knew him as the quick-witted local butcher. Bill enjoyed gardening, woodworking, growing apples and making his own cider.
Born on May 22, 1934, Bill married Marilyn Steinard on April 14, 1956. The couple had 3 children, Beth (Kurt) Riedman, Tammy (Scott) Stirn, and Todd Rosenberger. They also have 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Rosenberger served in Korea as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, a former member of Franklin County EMS 2, a former member of Blooming Grove Fire Department, a member of Brookville American Legion, Knights of Columbus – 4th degree, and was an honorary board member of Fairbrook Manor.
Bill passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016. As a legacy to him, his wife has established the Bill Rosenberger Memorial Scholarship Endowment in the Franklin County Community Foundation. The fund will provide an annual scholarship for an eighth grade student at St. Michael School in Brookville who will be attending Oldenburg Academy. If there is a year when no eighth grade student from St. Michael School is attending Oldenburg Academy, the scholarship will be available for current Oldenburg Academy students who graduated from St. Michael.
