Michael A. Douglass was born to December 24, 1943 in Lafayette. He married Judith Rice on
June 11, 1966 and the couple had one daughter, Erica. Mike graduated from Lafayette
Jefferson High School in in 1962, Duke University in 1966, and Indiana University Law School in
- He served as Deputy Prosecutor and Prosecutor in Franklin County, was a member of
O’Connor, Smith and Douglass Law Firm, and was a sole attorney at Toney and Douglass in
Union County. In addition, he served in the Indiana National Guard for six years.
Mike’s love of his country and community was demonstrated by his volunteerism in the
American Legion, Liberty Masonic Lodge, Union County Foundation Board and by his
mentorship of numerous high school students.
As a legacy to Mike after his passing in 2020, the Franklin County Kids Fund in memory of Mike
Douglass was established in the Franklin County Community Foundation. The purpose of the
fund is to provide financial support for children age 18 or younger for extracurricular or non-
school related activities.
