James P. & Mary M. Mullin Memorial Scholarship

Mary Mullin was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 29, 1915 to Irving and Anna Rogers Morrissett. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Denison University in 1937.

After college she worked for the American Friends Service Committee as a College Secretary in New England and California recruiting college students to work in AFSC projects. She met James P. Mullin of Brookville, Ind. while working as an active member in the Emergency Peace Campaign in Philadelphia, Penn. They married on December 27, 1941and moved to Brookville, Ind. in 1946 where they had four daughters.

After the children left home James and Mary traveled expanding gardening interests and allowing Mary to become an enthusiastic quilter. Mary created over 200 quilts and gave them to family and friends.

The James P. & Mary M. Mullin Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999 by Mary M. Mullin to provide an annual scholarship to a resident of Franklin County who wishes to further their education as a full-time student at Earlham College.
