Dorothy Humbarger

Born March 9, 1935, Dorothy Humbarger was the daughter of the late Earl A. & Ena (Hibbert)
Humbarger. She lived most of her life in Franklin County, Indiana and had a Metamora address
at the time of her passing. Miss Humbarger educated many Franklin County art students at
Brookville High School and later at Franklin County High School. She also taught at St.
Michael School in Brookville. After retirement, she became a member of the Franklin County
Retired Teachers Association.
Dorothy was nationally known, as she entered and won many juried art shows throughout the
United States. Her work was available for purchase at The Little Gallery in Metamora, Indiana.
On January 1, 2014, Dorothy passed away at the age of 78.
Recently, the Dorothy Humbarger Arts Scholarship Endowment was established within the
Franklin County Community Foundation. When income is available from the fund, scholarships
will be provided for students graduating from Franklin County High School who are planning to
study visual or performing arts.
