David Seufert Memorial Scholarship

David “Davey” Seufert was born on December 4, 1964. At age 3 ½, after a five week stay in Children’s Hospital undergoing extensive testing, Davey was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.

Davey grew up in Brookville and attended Brookville High School. His teachers said that he was always a good student and was well-behaved in school. An avid sports fan, Davey loved all sports. He followed the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, Indiana Pacers, Indiana Hoosiers and all local sports teams.

Davey struggled with health related problems from Cystic Fibrosis all his life, and on August 14, 2001 – on his grandmother’s 90th birthday – he had a double lung transplant. The transplant was a success and after a recovery period, he began working at White Tail Acres for Kevin and Alice Priessman. He continued to work for the Priessmans until his health failed. He passed away on December 5, 2008.

With memorial contributions, The David Seufert Memorial Scholarship Endowment is being established in the Franklin County Community Foundation by Davey’s mother, Shirley. Primary consideration for the scholarship is given to Franklin County High School seniors planning to study a medical related field. Secondary consideration is given to FCHS seniors who have been involved in athletics.
