American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund

The American Legion Bernard Hurst Post 77 Auxiliary awards a scholarship to a graduating senior who is a resident of Franklin County, Ind. The scholarship will enable a student to have funds to be applied toward the cost of tuition or books as a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing either an associate or bachelor degree.

The applicant’s connection to the American Legion Bernard Hurst Post 77 or auxiliary is limited to: father, mother, brother, sister or grandparent in good standing. The Franklin County Community Foundation will consult with the Ladies Auxiliary as to the connection.

The applicant must be a graduating high school senior, preferably in his or her first year of college. However, returning students are considered. The scholarship may be split between two equally deserving candidates. Factors considered include: student may not be valedictorian or salutatorian of their class, financial need, extra-curricular activities, citizenship, community involvement and employment history, if available.
