Freda & George Kremp Scholarship

George Kremp was born in the Southgate region of Franklin County on October 9, 1893. George served in World War I and for 30 years worked as a mail carrier in Franklin County.

He married Freda Lohrey on June 7, 1922. Freda was the oldest child of John C. and Catherine Senefeld Lohrey. Freda was born on Wolf Creek on September 4, 1903 and became a housewife after marriage.

The couple produced three daughters: Ruth Kremp Stang, Helen Kremp Westerfeld and Janet Kremp Gausman. They were members of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and have resided in Franklin County their entire lives.

The Freda and George Kremp Scholarship was established in 1999 by Ruth Kremp Stang to be awarded to a graduating Franklin County High School student for the purpose of furthering his/her education.
