The Norbert A. Riedman Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 by his children, Gail Riedman Sottong and Donald Riedman. The FCN Bank Board of Directors and FCN Bank National Association also supported the scholarship.
Mr. Norbert A. Riedman was a life-long resident of Franklin County. He served as director of FCN Bank for 34 years and as Chairman of the Board for 13 years. He owned and operated the former Riedman Rexall Drugstore in Brookville for 31 years until his retirement in 1985. Riedman was born January 6, 1921 in Brookville, the son of Harry and Cecilia (Geis) Riedman. He was a World War II Navy veteran and married the former Joyce Stronach on September 14, 1944. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide college tuition assistance to eligible children of parents employed by FCN Bank.
Scholarship applicants must be the children of FCN Bank employees who have been employed for at least one full year at the time of the child’s application, scheduled for full-time attendance at an accredited college or university and pursuing either an associate or bachelor degree. Factors to be considered include: academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, citizenship/community involvement, and employment history.
