Brookville Elementary School Tutoring Endowment

Loretta Renaker

The Brookville Elementary School Tutoring Endowment was established in 2004 in memory of Loretta Renaker, a former teacher. The endowment provides funding for students in need of academic assistance at Brookville Elementary School.

Loretta taught the third grade and had a reputation of being a tough teacher, but not without love for every student. Her students were always expected to work hard and to give the most of themselves, but they always felt loved by her.

She was a friend to many people and enjoyed helping others. No matter how tough things got or how bad she felt, she always had an encouraging word to pass along. She often visited the nursing home and drove various friends to the doctor or hospital, when they were unable to transport themselves. Loretta was an untiring worker and it wasn’t until the last few weeks of her life and fight with cancer that she was forced to give up and let others take care of her.

The most significant thing her life was her family. She had two daughters and and two grandchildren that she loved more than anything. In addition to her family, friends and students, Loretta loved music, the great outdoors, animals, flowers and traveling. Loretta was also active in the community. She was a member of Tri Kappa, Women’s Club, Foundation Scholarship Committee, and the retired teachers and many other educational organizations.
